Lincoln Parks and Rec seeking seasonal volunteers

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department is seeking volunteers for a variety of events and activities this spring and summer.

The department has many different volunteering opportunities that will begin this spring.

Adopt a park, trail or landscape: Organizations can clean and maintain park areas for one-year sessions.  Call the Parks and Recreation office at 402-441-7847 for more information.

Swim and dive teams: Volunteers will help swim and dive coaches with practice, drills, skill development and supervision of meets.  Call the Aquatics Office at 402-441-7960 for more information.

Special Olympics: The Shooting Stars Special Olympics Team needs coaches, Unified Partners, practice assistants and general supervisors.  Year-round positions are available at various locations.  Contact the Easterday Recreation Center at 402-441-7977 for more information.

Pioneers Park Nature Center: Volunteers are needed for garden maintenance, visitor services and special events.  Call the Nature Center at 402-441-7895 for more information.

Recreation centers: Volunteers are needed to help with the recreation program.  Call recreation coordinator Dan Payzant at 402-441-7959 for more information.

Public gardens: Volunteers will either help share horticulture knowledge with visitors or give tours at Sunken Gardens, Hamann Rose Garden and the Rotary Strolling Garden.
