Lincoln Police collect 73 firearms during Gun Amnesty event
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Police collected 73 firearms during its Gun Amnesty event on Saturday.
Firearms including rifles, shotguns, handguns and pellet guns were collected at the event.
Tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition, including some gunpowder; two military-grade knives; and fireworks were also collected, police say.
During the event, HOPELNK also distributed 30 free gun lockboxes and over 100 gun cable locks.
The event was held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in a parking lot near 23rd and R Streets.
Police accepted any unwanted guns and ammunition without question.
