UPDATE: Police provide update on north Lincoln shooting

Lincoln Police continue to investigate shooting that left two people dead in north Lincoln Thursday evening. 

Police found a 48-year-old male and 35-year-old female deceased inside a home near 14th Street and Humphrey Avenue around 5 p.m., both with apparent gunshot wounds. 

Authorities say five children were removed from the home and were safe at a neighboring home. Police said the children ranged in age from three to 14, and included four girls and one boy.

Investigators are conducting interviews and analyzing the scene, but police say there is no ongoing threat to the community. 

The identities of the victims will be released pending notification of the family, which police said they expect to happen Friday afternoon.
