LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln police are investigating a homicide Sunday morning that has left a 28-year-old man dead.

According to authorities, just before 7:30 a.m., LPD and LFR were dispatched to an apartment near 48th and ‘O’ streets (300 block of N. 44th Street) on a report of a shooting.

Officers found a 28-year-old man with apparent gunshot wounds inside of an apartment. Authorities said they initiated life saving measures, but the man did not survive and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said a  23-year-old man is in custody for 2nd degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony.

There is no on-going threat to the public.

The victim was not identified but police say the family has been notified.

Crime Scene Investigators will be at the scene throughout the day collecting physical evidence. This is an ongoing investigation.
