Lincoln Police make statement on Texas elementary school shooting

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Watch Lincoln Police Chief, Teresa Ewins’ full statement on behalf of LPD on our Facebook regarding the Tuesday school shooting in Texas.

Lincoln Police posted the following statement from Ewins in a Facebook post-Tuesday evening.

“As we all struggle to grasp this violence against our society’s most vulnerable, we want to take this moment to remind you we take our responsibility to serve and protect the City of Lincoln seriously.”

LPD said that support will be provided to local schools with whatever resources they may need including additional patrols to provide a sense of comfort for students and staff.

Lincoln Police will have an increased presence at Lincoln Public Schools today to ensure the safety of students and staff as they celebrate their last day of school for the 2021-2022 school year.

Lincoln Police encourage those to report any concerning activity to their non-emergency line at 402-441-6000 and to all 911 in emergency situations.
