Visionary Youth, HCA, Malone Center, LPD team up for holiday food giveaway
Hundreds gathered at the Malone Center Sunday morning for holiday food bags and other essential items.
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Visionary Youth, HCA, Malone Center, LPD and several nonprofits passed out holiday food bags, winter gear, and other essential items for people in need.
Hundreds gathered at the Malone Center Sunday morning to pick up these items just days before Thanksgiving.
Almost 700 holiday food bags were distributed to families in Lincoln. The bags were stuffed with Thanksgiving meals including turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and more. Service Call and Warmer Days also gave out winter coats, gloves, hats, socks and underwear.
“The need is absolutely right here in the community, right now. It’s amazing to see all of these folks out here getting an opportunity to get a little bit of support with their Thanksgiving this year,” Dr. Lawrence Chatters, the President of Visionary Youth said.
This event was approved by the Lincoln-Lancaster Health Department, masks were worn and temperatures were taken.
A big thank you to all of the local nonprofits and sponsors of the Community Outreach Holiday Food Giveaway.
