Lincoln Police searching for motorcyclist that rammed into officer downtown

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Police are now searching for a motorcyclist that rammed into an officer in downtown Lincoln early Thursday morning.

Lincoln Police say a green motorcycle was seen driving recklessly near 14th and O Streets around 12:30 a.m.

The motorcyclist then slowed down and drove onto a sidewalk on Centennial Mall Park between P and Q Streets.

At the same time, two officers on bike patrol were heading in the opposite direction on the same sidewalk, according to police.

Police say the motorcyclist started to turn his handlebars as if to go around the officers but instead drove right at them.

The motorcyclist struck one of the officers and knocked him to the ground.  They then sped off heading east on P Street.

Police say the officer suffered a hand, leg and shoulder injury.

An investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call Lincoln Police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
