Lincoln Police stopped about 250 people during enforcement on O Street

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln Police Department announced that it issued a total of 258 arrests, citations and warnings during its traffic detail of O Street.

Police partnered with Nebraska State Patrol for the detail, which took place from May 27 to May 29.

The goal of the enforcement detail between 17th and 84th Streets was to promote safe and responsible driving behavior and reduce motor vehicle crashes, police said.

During the traffic detail, two women were killed in a crash on O Street when a teenage driver struck their vehicle while going close to 90 miles an hour.

Since the crash, Lincoln police say they are planning to work with the city to improve safety on O Street.
