Lincoln Police to begin traffic enforcement project on O Street
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Police are hoping to curb reckless driving on O Street with a new traffic enforcement project.
The project, which runs from May until the end of August, will have additional officers patrolling O Street on weekends and certain nights.
Officers will employ “several different techniques” to address reckless driving and speeding, police say.
Police say the goal of the project is to promote safe driving and reduce the number of crashes on O Street.
Between 17th and 84th Streets, O Street had nine of the highest crash locations in the city last year, according to police.
“The Lincoln Police Department is committed to addressing these unsafe driving behaviors and will take a zero-tolerance approach to any reckless driving behaviors observed throughout this detail,” officials said in a press release.
