LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – To stay ahead of Nebraska’s unpredictable weather, Lincoln Public Schools said Monday that it has rescheduled finals for high school students.

All finals will be held on Wednesday, with classes operating on a regular bell schedule, according to a release from LPS.

Officials said this is precautionary, in case the district has to shut down school on Thursday due to blizzard conditions.

Winter storm watches are posted for much of central and eastern Nebraska.  Channel 8 expects those to go into effect on Wednesday.

Lincoln could see impactful snowfall, wind gusts up to 50 mph and dangerously cold temperatures.

If LPS does close schools, families will receive calls around 10 p.m. Wednesday or by 5:45 a.m. Thursday.
