Lincoln resident wakes up to stranger in his apartment

home invasion, burglary

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Thursday morning, one resident didn’t wake up to his alarm, but rather a total stranger standing in his living room.

Lincoln Police were called to the Latitude Apartment Complex, 235 S 11th St. where they spoke with the 21-year-old victim.

He said he woke up to a loud noise coming from his apartment living area. When he went to see what it was, he found an unfamiliar man holding his luggage.

The victim confronted the stranger, who ran out the front door. Officers found a broken window and a shoe print, indicating the window as the point of entry.

The victim claims his luggage and a video game system, along with several video games, were stolen.

Several hours later, the burglar, recognized by the apartment manager from surveillance footage, returned to the building.

Police quickly returned to the scene and took Jeremy Pickinpaugh into custody around 12:30 that night. Pickinpaugh was later arrested for burglary.
