LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird on Monday announced Kate Bolz is joining her staff.

Gaylor Baird said Bolz, a state senator, will be her Policy Aide for Economic and Workforce Development.

Bolz will start Dec. 1, replacing Alyssa Martin, who accepted a job in the private sector.

Bolz recently ran for Nebraska’s 1st District Congressional seat, losing to incumbent Jeff Fortenberry. She has also represented Lincoln in the state legislature since 2013.

“Kate is a recognized and accomplished leader in our City and State, and we are excited to have her join our team,” Gaylor Baird said in a news release. “Her skills and experience are well suited to this role, where she will lead our Lincoln Forward initiative, which works to foster the conditions for Lincolnites to flourish and thrive and for our community to achieve real and sustainable growth.”
