Lincoln Southwest defeats city rival Lincoln Southeast in OT

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lincoln Southwest Silverhawks pulled off a 17-14 overtime thriller against the Lincoln Southeast Knights on Friday night.

As the fourth quarter ticked down, Silverhawks quarterback Collin Fritton completed a circus pass to running back Cal Newell to put Southwest near the goal line.

One play later, Newell tied things up with a 2-yard rushing touchdown to send the game into overtime.

The Silverhawks’ defense held tough, keeping the Knights off the board in their overtime opening drive.

Once the Hawks were on offense, a field goal gave the team its fifth win of the season.

The Silverhawks will be on the road at South Sioux City next week.

The Knights will look for win No. 4 on the season at Millard West on Friday.
