Lincoln Southwest scores 9 runs in 2nd inning to punch ticket to District A2 softball title

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The defending state champion Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks grew one step closer towards a return to state, taking down Kearney 10-0 after four innings in the District A2 undefeated semifinal on Wednesday at the Southeast Athletic Complex.

Southwest led just 1-0 into the fourth, but then erupted for nine runs all with two outs, as the Silver Hawks had 10-consecutive batters reach base.

Class A’s reigning champs will play in the district title at 5 p.m. Thursday against the winner of Kearney versus Lincoln Southeast (3 p.m.). An if-necessary final game would take place at 7 p.m. if the Silver Hawks drop the 5 p.m. contest.
