Lincoln teen shot at Seacrest Field in third reported shooting in a week
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A 17-year-old Lincoln teen arrived at a local hospital Wednesday night with a gunshot wound that grazed the left side of his head, Lincoln Police say.
This is the third reported shooting in Lincoln this week.
The victim was brought to the hospital by a friend, police say. The bullet grazed his head, so the injury is not considered life-threatening.
The victim and some of his friends met up with another group at Seacrest Field following a social media feud between the groups.
During the meetup, a male wearing a mask over his face exited their vehicle with a handgun and shot at the car the victim was in, police say.
The car and teenager were hit during the fire.
A 15-year-old male was identified as the suspect and taken into custody after officers searched his house, police say.
Due to the presence of firearms, the Lincoln Police Department SWAT team was used during a search of the home.
Police have not located the weapon used during the shooting.
The 15-year-old was lodged in the Lancaster County Youth Services Center on suspicion of second-degree assault, use of a weapon to commit a felony and discharging a firearm into a vehicle.
