Lincoln theatres begin to close for the second time

Theatres Close

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — After reopening Lincoln theatres in late August, Marcus Theatres has decided to re-closedown some of their locations a month later.

Why? It’s simple. According to Marcus Theatres, it’s tough to operate a theatre if no new movies are being released. So, until the movie-biz is able to safely produce a steady stream of content, they are focusing their efforts on only a few establishments.

So far, our reporters have noted that South Pointe and East Park theatres have closed their doors, leaving only the Marcus Grand Theatre open for moviegoers.

Recently Marcus Theatres released this statement addressing the closures:

Important Update: We have made the difficult decision to temporarily close some of our locations. As the entertainment industry continues to adapt to the impact of COVID-19, there are fewer new movie releases, which has directly impacted guest attendance. We look forward to reopening fully and reconnecting with all the communities we serve when there is a consistent schedule of new movie releases. Check the list below for affected theatre locations.
