City officials say some Lincoln swimming pools will open this summer.

Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird said five city-operated swimming pools – Arnold Pool, Ballard Pool, Belmont Pool, Irvingdale Pool and Woods Pool – will open on June 15.

Open swim period will be 90-minutes long and organized in three daily session (noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.). High-touch surfaces at the pool will be disinfected between the sessions.

When swimmers arrive, they will have their temperature checked and their names and phone numbers will be recorded in case contact tracing is needed at some point in the future, Gaylor Baird said.

People will be expected to keep a six-foot distance between them and wear face coverings while checking in.

Anyone wishing to swim will be required to take a shower using soap before entering the pool deck.

Evening family swim sessions will be available, and some learn to swim programs may be offered in July.

Pools will not be available for private rental.
