As Lincoln tops 500 confirmed cases of COVID-19 Thursday, Nebraska is approaching 7,000.

According to DHHS data, state cases sat at just under 6,800 as of Thursday evening. However, with regional health departments submitting confirmed cases, that number is likely to top 7,000 by Friday morning.

At least 86 deaths had been reported as of Thursday evening, according to DHHS.

Hall, Douglas and Dakota County continue to lead the state, making up about half of all confirmed cases.

Nearly 38,000 total tests had been completed across Nebraska as of Thursday night.

Governor Pete Ricketts said approximately one in every six cases is tied to a meat packing plant.

About half of all state hospital beds and nearly 80% of ventilators remain available.
