Lincoln Weather Update: Thursday, June 18

One more day of heat before relief comes for the weekend. Hot and humid again today as highs climb near 90 degrees this afternoon. A southerly breeze at 10-20 mph with help keep the air uncomfortable around the area.

A slow moving cold front will track across the state today and will be the focus of shower and thunderstorm development in eastern Nebraska by the evening. Some isolated strong to severe storms possible with wind and small hail being the main threats. Storms will continue overnight, with heavy rain likely at times.

Scattered storms will be possible from Friday through Sunday. Rainfall through that time period could range in southeastern Nebraska from 1″-2″+. They won’t be all-day washouts, but be sure to keep an eye on the forecast this weekend if you are planning activities outdoors.

Cooler air will usher in behind the front dropping temperatures into the upper 70s for Friday. Low to mid 80s are forecast for Father’s Day weekend. Looking ahead to next week, it looks as though temperatures are finally trending near average with highs in the middle 80s much of the week!
