Lincoln YMCA seeks to raise $5,000 for Strong Kids campaign on Giving Tuesday

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – We’ve seen Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and now Giving Tuesday is here.

Yhe YMCA of Lincoln is working out for those in need.

Throughout the day, the Fallbrook, Copple, Cooper, and Northeast YMCA locations will be accepting donations for the “5K The Hard Way” challenge, an annual Giving Tuesday donation drive.

Copple YMCA Director Allison McGinn says it’s the third year the Y has participated.

“Our goal is to raise $5,000,” she said. “It’s a great way to benefit our Strong Kids campaign.”

The campaign offers financial assistance for YMCA memberships, programs, sports and camp fees to families who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford the services.

Copple YMCA member Steve Hawkins spoke fondly about giving back during the season known for kindness.

“I’ve always believed in giving back, and this is a great way to visualize with the others at the Y to give back,” he said.

Donors can visit any YMCA location on Tuesday to donate in person or can donate online.

The challenge ends at midnight.
