Families could be seen fishing, biking, or running around the park. Many practiced social distancing but didn’t let COVID-19 keep them inside this Sunday.

A woman says she isn’t too worried about the coronavirus but it does change the way she’ll honor veterans this year.

“That’s a big difference this year too,” said Krystal Salisbury, who volunteers putting wreaths on veteran graves. “We won’t have the big crowds at the cemetery to do the ceremonies. I’ve just heard there’s going to be a small group of like the honor guard going out and doing Taps and doing the 21 gun salute.”

She hopes locals take the time to honor and remember veterans along with staying safe this Memorial Day weekend.
