Lincolnites enjoy a St. Patrick’s Day with fewer COVID restrictions

McKinney's Irish Pub hosts 8th annual St. Patrick's Day

LINCOLN, Neb (KLKN) – It was a chilly afternoon and evening for St. Patrick’s Day festivities in Lincoln.

McKinney’s Irish Pub in the Haymarket held its 8th annual St. Patrick’s block party.

The pub had an outdoor tent set up on the street with a bar for people to mingle at.  There was also live music after 4 p.m.

This is the first party without COVID-19 restrictions in three years, and people there were excited to get back to being with friends and making new ones.

Bailey Parde loves St. Patrick’s Day and dressed up in a full green suit decorated with leprechauns, beer logos, shamrocks and the Ireland flag.

“Being with all my friends and everybody, like this guy right here, people I don’t even know, I just met this guy today, and I think that’s what this is all about,” Parde said. “It’s not just about people you know; it’s about people you can make friends with. That’s what I love about St. Patrick’s Day. Everybody comes together. It’s not just about one person; it’s about everybody.”

With it being a day of drinking and partying, there is extra law enforcement out looking for drunken drivers.
