Lincoln’s Butterfly Bakery to host fundraiser for Uvalde victims

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, 20% of proceeds will go to victims of Robb Elementary shooting

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Butterfly Bakery is teaming up with VictimsFirst to host a fundraiser on Saturday for victims of the Uvalde school shooting.

VictimsFirst supports families of mass casualty events by covering medical and funeral expenses.

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., 20 percent of the proceeds that Butterfly Bakery makes during its dine-out event will go to the victims of the Robb Elementary shooting.

“When I heard about the news that happened in Uvalde, the first thing that I thought was, ‘How can we help?’ ” said Zander Rogers, executive assistant.  “We thought it would be perfect to just sponsor our dine-out for this weekend to help them out so we can help cover funeral expenses and medical expenses for the families in need, so they don’t have to worry about anything besides their grieving.”

The bakery typically uses its event to raise money for Lincoln schools to fund their educational events.

While the event usually donates 10 percent of its proceeds, they will be increasing donations to 20 percent to support families while they grieve.

There will be lots of colorful desserts, along with cupcakes with Robb Elementary’s colors that say #RobbStrong.
