Lincoln’s CEDARS new facility up and running
The community based non-profit has been around for 75 years helping children in vulnerable situations get the care and resources they need.
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A local child service organization has moved locations, in hopes to provide even more for our youth.
CEDARS Youth Opportunity Center is now near 16th and ‘N’ Street, downtown (1620 N Street).
“It’s larger with more privacy for some kids to talk with our staff, we have a donation distribution area, and a separate kitchen and eating area too,” Jim Blue, the President of CEDARS said. “It’s just going to be wonderful.”
The community based non-profit has been around for 75 years helping children in vulnerable situations get the care and resources they need. CEDARS said they wouldn’t be able to do it without the help of the community and their donations, which they’re always in need of.
“There is such a tremendous need for kids, they are literally sleeping out on the streets here in Lincoln,” Blue said. “They have found through word of mouth and other resources that this is a safe and neutral place to go for help.”
Anywhere from financial gifts to warm blankets are needed at CEDARS. You can drop off items to their new location or head to their website to see the different ways you can help change a child’s life.
