LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln’s Jazz in June has announced its 2022 lineup, which includes the Darryl White Quartet and Kurt Elling.

The free concert series will be held at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s sculpture garden every Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Andy William & the Nebraska All Stars will kick off the event. William is a Havana native who plays in an Afro-Cuban Jazz orchestra.  The group is fronted by vocalist Onelio Perez and will perform tributes to the Buena Vista Social Club of Cuba.

The Darryl White Quartet leads the second week of concerts.  The group performs a mixture of traditional and contemporary jazz, including works from legendary musicians Louis Armstrong and Miles Davis.

White is a faculty member of UNL’s Glenn Korff School of Music who has previously performed with the Omaha Symphony and Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra.

Elling, a two-time Grammy Award winner, will perform during the third week.  Elling’s vocal jazz has garnered a global fan base and numerous awards, according to a press release.

Davina and the Vagabonds will close out the concert series.  The group’s music consists of a New Orleans sound that features elements of blues, jazz, R&B, soul and gospel.

“I couldn’t be happier with the lineup, honestly, and can’t wait for Lincolnites and outside travelers to get outside and enjoy this historic event along with highlighting some of the best food trucks in town,” said Jazz in June coordinator Mike Semrad.
