LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — After more than a year, Yankee Hill Road is back open.

The Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Department said the section of the road between 40th and 56th Streets was opened to the public Thursday.

In September 2021, the department began making improvements to the road.

Since then, three roundabouts, new pavement and sidewalks, as well as sewer improvements have been added.

The City of Lincoln hopes that the improvements will promote investment and housing options around Wilderness Heights.

In total, LTU said the project cost $7,460,000 to complete.
