LIVE: CHI Health to provide coronavirus antibody treatment

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — CHI Health will begin treating qualified patients with an antibody-drug, Bamlanivimab, to help treat COVID-19 this Friday.

Bamlanivimab received emergency use authorization from the FDA. CHI Health received a supply from the federal government which has since been allocated by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).

Currently, CHI Health has enough supply for 344 infusions across its 14-hospital systems, plus 39 doses for Iowa patients.

Only patients with a positive COVID-19 test, high risk for hospitalization, and physician referral will be eligible for the treatment.

Infusion sites will be located at CHI Hospitals in Lincoln, Kearney, Grand Island, Council Bluffs. In Omaha, CHI Health Midlands will be the main infusion site open eight hours a day, seven days a week.
