Gov. Ricketts & DHHS discuss upcoming vaccine phases

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)- In Thursday’s press conference, the Governor and the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services will be discussing the upcoming phasing for vaccine distribution. We’ll be posting live updates below.

LIVE UPDATES: 

  • ANGIE LING: Next week’s allocations of vaccines have increased (Pfizer & Moderna)
    • Vaccines will be arriving sooner within the window of use
    • Anticipate a backlog of vaccine orders due to the weather, but on Monday they received 2 large shipments of Pfizer
    • As of yet, the retail pharmacy program has not received any doses
  • FELICIA, DHHS OFFICIAL: NE is expecting to vaccinate the general population in April or May
    • When Nebraska begins vaccinating the general population, those 50-60 years old will be prioritized
    • Those 50+ years old account for the majority of fatalities from COVID-19
  • GOV. RICKETTS: continues stressing that renewable energy sources, like wind power, were to blame for the power outages in Nebraska
  • DHHS is in contact with the CDC, they’re investigating the death of someone suspected to have died from the vaccine, preliminary results say that the vaccine was not to blame though
