LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln Lancaster County Health Department reminds the community to get a flu vaccine and reduce stress on hospitals strained by the COVID-19 pandemic.

LLCHD says the flu vaccine is the most effective way to reduce the risk of contracting influenza.

“Flu activity is likely to increase so it’s important to get your vaccine now to help prevent flu and preserve hospital capacity,” said Tim Timmons, LLCHD Communicable Disease Program Supervisor.

LLCHD says they will provide free flu vaccines to uninsured and underinsured adults.

The public can find flu vaccine locations at vaccines.gov. LLCHD says the public can receive flu and COVID-19 vaccines at the same time.
