Local community group showed their support for essential workers outside Hyvee
A local community group showed their support outside Hyvee on “O” street for those working through the coronavirus. They held up signs saying “we thank our essential workers” as cars passed by, honking in recognition.
“Essential personnel, doctors, nurses, truckers, grocery store workers, anybody that has to work in a time like this,” said Peggy Tillman, a member of the Women Of The Moose Association.
The Women Of The Moose is a unit of the larger “Loyal Order of the Moose” that supports local charities and provides a helping hand for those in need.
They say if they can be out in support of our workers, anyone can.
“With the honks and that and the waves, it makes it worthwhile being out here. We hope that everyone will support so we can get through this because we are Nebraska strong,” said Tillman.
Their act drew inspiration from another person doing the same thing outside CHI Health St. Elizabeth’s, and they hope to spread the joy of being a community, united.
