Local couple raises more than $2,000 to stock Little Free Pantry for a year

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln couple announced they raised enough money to keep a Little Free Pantry stocked three times a week for a year.

Dan and Beth Alberts raised more than $2,000 in cash and food donations for the pantry in northeast Lincoln.

“I work with a lot of people that are just an inch away from not having enough,” Dan said. “That’s the world we’re in right now.”

Dan built the pantry outside of the St. Andrews Lutheran church. The Alberts held a fundraiser at their church for the Little Free Pantry, which helped raise the money and food.

“There’s no doubt the need is growing,” Dan said.

The couple said there is a significant need in the neighborhood for food and they believe it just took a little push to get others onboard.
