Local gymnastics facility permanently closing

After 41 years of coaching, Capital City Gymnastics is closing its doors for good.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – After more than four decades of coaching gymnastics, one local gym owner is closing his doors for good.

Capital City Gymnastics opened at a different location in June of 1980, and ten years later, moved to their current facility.

Duane West, the owner of the gym, says over the years he’s coached anywhere between 8,000 and 10,000 kids.

West said that while he has mixed emotions about closing the gym, he and his wife are ready for retirement, and said they know the relationships they forged will last a lifetime.
