Local restaurant donates half of sales to Herrera family
Chopsticks Chinese Cuisine had nearly 400 orders on Saturday. The restaurant is trying to help the Herrera family.
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Chopsticks Chinese Cuisine on 70th and A Street had nearly 400 orders placed on Saturday. The restaurant donated 50 percent of its sales to help out Officer Mario Herrera and his family.
Employees told Channel 8 it was a record-breaking day in terms of business for the local establishment. Several people gathered outside. Some ordered food, while others just gave a donation.
“It’s been very busy,” employee Abby Dibbern said. “We are currently not taking any orders so we can get caught up.”
Employee Maggie Lin said Officer Herrera makes frequent visits to the restaurant. His favorite dish is the Kung Pao chicken.
“He kind of has a quiet voice,” she said. “He doesn’t talk much, but he’s very nice. Every time he walks into the restaurant, he’s always just smiling.”
