Local smoke shop under investigation for selling nitrous oxide

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — An investigation by the Lincoln Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force regarding the illegal sale of nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, is in progress.

Lincoln Police Department (LPD) received a report concerning 3D Smoke Shop selling illegal products.

According to LPD, the task force was able to purchase a tank of Galaxy Gas, a flavored nitrous oxide brand.

Nitrous oxide is illegal to sell in Nebraska.

The task force returned with a search warrant and obtained all nitrous oxide products from the store. This included six cans of the nitrous oxide. During the investigation, officials determined there were seven additional smoke shops that may carry the product. After checking, no nitrous oxide products were found.

There have been no citations issued at this time but the investigation is ongoing. LPD says this includes random spot checks of the shops.

LPD reminded the public of the serious dangers of products used for huffing or whippets.
