Longtime Husker fan proposes on ESPN’s College Gameday

The sights and sounds of College Gameday taking over Lincoln are ones that the city will never forget.

For one Arizona couple, there’s one sign that will be etched in their memories forever.

Lifetime Husker fan Dack Lambert heard that College Gameday would be making it’s way to Lincoln and his uncle told him, this was the perfect opportunity to propose to his girlfriend of three years, Lexi Geottl.

“My uncle who keeps pushing me to get married and bugging me and putting the pressure on. He’s like, well Dack, you should hire your uncle to hold up the sign at gameday while you’re at home in Arizona and have it say, Lexi will you marry me?” Dack Lambert said.

It was Dack’s cousin, Mackenzie that braved the thousands of fans to make her way to the front of the stage to be seen by everyone.

“I had the sign and I could see it on the screen because I was facing this way and with the reflection I could move it over if it was out of the shoot I could move it or adjust it. On the Scott Frost one, I knew they could see it and I had it up and I was just like, oh my gosh,” Mackenzie Lambert said.

With the help of Mackenzie and the generous fans that got her to the front of the pit, the proposal has now gone viral and the couple has received congratulations from hundreds.

“We’re so excited,” Lexi Geotll said.

“It’s been a fun last 24 hours for sure. This is my first tweet ever, I just got a twitter on Friday afternoon,” Dack Lambert said.

The couple will be making their way back to Lincoln for the Huskers homecoming game and to celebrate their engagement with all the people that made it possible.

Congratulations from everyone at Channel 8, Dack and Lexi!
