Lovely spring temperatures today with increasing clouds 3/15/2022

Temperatures are mild this morning compared to yesterday when we had wind chill values in the teens. Instead, we are starting off in the 30s and 40s with 20s for wind chill values. The sky is currently clear, but a cold front will bring increasing clouds into the afternoon and evening. Wind gusts could also turn a little gusty early this afternoon with wind gusts above 20 mph. Despite the increasing clouds, temperatures will still soar into the low to mid-70s today making it feel like a gorgeous May day instead of March. We remain mild in the low 40s overnight with mostly cloudy skies, but the wind changes out of the north. This wind shift will bring more seasonal March temperatures for St. Patrick’s Day tomorrow. Highs will reach the low to mid-50s with cloudy skies and the chance for scattered rain showers. While the thought of rain is exciting since we desperately need it, don’t get too excited. We aren’t expecting a washout by any means, and the showers will be spotty for most of the afternoon. They could spread out a bit more into the late evening and overnight hours, but I still think areas south of I-80 have the best chance at seeing rain. If temperatures drop enough, we could even see some snow flurries flying around late Thursday into early Friday morning! Warmer temperatures return into the weekend with highs warming back into the 70s for the first day of spring on Sunday.
