LPD arrest one for an ‘over-the-counter’ robbery

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Monday morning, just after seven o’clock, LPD officers responded to a report of a robbery at Walgreens, 1404 Superior St. Once on scene, the clerk told officers that a male had entered the store and asked to purchase some cigarettes. As the clerk was processing the transaction, the suspect jumped over the counter and stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the register. The suspect then departed from the scene.

However, during the original transaction, the suspect had provided his drier’s license to the clerk to be scanned in order to purchase the cigarettes. The scanner identified the individual as 21-year-old Jeremy Anderson.

Officers found Anderson that owns a vehicle matching the one driven by the suspect and a matching driver’s license, as described by the witness. Just before 9 p.m. that same day, Anderson called Lincoln police, saying he knew he was being pursued and that he wished to speak with officers.

Police contacted Anderson in the 4900 block of West McGuire Road, where they recovered the cigarettes and some bills possibly stolen during the robbery. Anderson was cited and lodged for felony robbery.
