LPD begins “Click it or Ticket” enforcement project

The nationwide enforcement effort begins on November 24 and ends on November 28.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit joins the nationwide “Click it or Ticket” enforcement effort beginning on November 24.

The project lasts until November 28. Officers plan to enforce seatbelts throughout the city, focusing on areas with high injury accident rates. LPD will also be watching for any child restraint violations.

The Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office will provide overtime funding for the increase in enforcement during the campaign.

According to LPD, the goal is to continue enforcement and education efforts to increase Nebraska’s statewide safety belt usage rate to 85%.

The belt observation usage in Lincoln was 74%, according to a Pre-Wave Survey.
