LPD captain officially charged with misdemeanor child abuse

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln Police Department captain, Mayde McGuire, has been officially charged after she left a child in a vehicle on Aug. 23.

Deputies with Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said McGuire and her partner were fishing at Pawnee Lake when reports of a child left alone in a vehicle were made.

After investigation, it was found the 2-year-old had been left in the vehicle for at least 28 minutes. The temperature was said to be around 78 degrees.

McGuire is being charged with misdemeanor child abuse. Her arraignment is set for Sept. 30.
