LPD: Man arrested after stealing 7 guns from Lincoln home
Police say a convicted felon was arrested Tuesday after he was caught on camera stealing seven guns from a homeowner.
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Police say they have arrested a man after he was caught on video stealing several firearms from another homeowner.
Police say on Sunday morning, they responded to a home near SW 8th and west A streets after a 57-year-old man told officers he was moving out of his home and had his seven firearms on a dolly inside the home. After leaving the home for a short time, the man says he returned to find that the dolly with the guns had been taken.
Officials say after canvassing the area, they located tire tracks leading to the home, as well as security footage of the area, where the victim was able to identify the suspect who was seen taking the guns.
Police say 40-year-old Jeremiah Nyhoff was arrested Tuesday evening at his home after they say he was identified from the security footage. A search of Nyhoff’s found resulted in the discovery of the seven guns, ammo and a gun cleaning kit.
Nyhoff was taken to the Lancaster County Jail on six counts of possessing a stolen firearm, possession of a stolen firearm by a prohibited person, and burglary.
