A man is facing assault and burglary charges after reportedly breaking into his mother’s home and attacking her.
Lincoln police officers responded Thursday morning to the home in the 600 block of 33rd St. on reports that a woman who appeared injured was laying in the driveway.
Officers arrived to find the 49-year-old woman screaming in pain with blood covering her face, police said.
The woman lost consciousness several times while speaking with officers, but told them her son – identified as 31-year-old Austin Lightfeather – had kicked in her door before beating her until she passed out, police said.
The woman was taken to the hospital with broken bones in her shoulder and several cuts on her face, police said.
Lightfeather was found a short time later near 28th and O St. He was lodged for first-degree assault and burglary.
Police could not comment on a possible motive for the alleged assault.
