Lincoln Police say a man has sustained life-threatening injuries after being hit by a Lincoln city bus on Monday afternoon.

Police and rescue services were called to 1st and ‘O’ streets around 1 p.m. on reports of a pedestrian vs. bus accident.

Witnesses told police that a man was seated around five feet away from the curb in a grassy area when he got up as the city bus approached the bus stop. Police say the man then stumbled into the side of the bus and was then ran over.

The man, who is 64-years-old, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition.

Police say they believe alcohol played a factor in the man’s actions when he fell into the bus.
