A Lincoln man is facing several felony charges after being arrested on suspicion of stealing prescription pills from a local pharmacy.
Lincoln police officers arrested 20-year-old Henry Nelson on six felony charges, including possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
Officers responded Wednesday morning to the Super Saver at 2525 Pine Lake Rd. where employees said a man – later identified as Nelson – was seen on surveillance video trying to cash a receipt at the store’s Coinstar machine.
Nelson was then seen entering the store’s pharmacy and going inside through a sliding window, then exiting a few minutes later, police said.
A total of 1,100 prescription pills – including hydrocodone and oxycodone – were reported stolen from the pharmacy.
Later that day, a 20-year-old co-worker of Nelson’s entered the store and attempted to cash a receipt at the Coinstar machine. Officers were called to the store and discovered the man – who denied any knowledge of the burglary – had been asked by Nelson to cash the receipt, police said.
Officers went to Nelson’s employer, a Lincoln pizza shop, and arrested him.
After getting a search warrant, investigators located prescription pills matching those reported stolen from the Super Saver pharmacy hidden in Nelson’s bedroom, police said.
Police say they believe Nelson was attempting to distribute the stolen narcotics.
