LPD: More than 40 car break-ins reported over the weekend

Lincoln Police are investigating after more than 40 cars were broken into over the weekend.

Police report that eight cars were broken into on Friday night, followed by just two on Saturday night.

However, Sunday saw a major increase in break-ins with 20 cars, a majority of them happening in the early morning hours Sunday. Police say at least 15 of the reports came from the Chateau La Fleur Apartment Complex near 61st and Holdrege.

Police also report that since Monday at midnight, 19 cars have been broken into with 18 of them happening in the area of Folsom and West A streets.

Investigations into the break-ins are ongoing, as well as an assessment of damage and any stolen items.

Police are reminding people to lock their car doors at the end of every night, and remove all valuables from inside the vehicle or keep them out of sight.
