LPD: overnight surge in car break-ins
Police say there were around 15 car break-ins in the Eastridge area.
Lincoln Police say there were 15 car break-ins in a single Lincoln area.
After receiving a report from a neighbor in the Eastridge area, police on the Southeast team located the suspects in the area. Police say there were two stolen vehicles involved – a 2019 Dodge Durango and a 2011 Mercedes SUV.
Both vehicles fled the area, and police later located the Durango near 12th and Adams with heavy front end damage and no occupants inside.
After a search of the car, police say there were 15 sets of car keys inside, all from the Eastridge area. They also found multiple garage door openers taken from cars.
Police say every single vehicle was left unlocked, leaving easy access for the suspects. In multiple cases, car keys that were being stored in other vehicles of the same household were take.
