LPD: Responding officer witnesses arsonist, vehicle erupts in flames

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Around nine o’clock Sunday night, a witness reported seeing at least one person breaking into a vehicle in the lot of Pham Motor Sports, 2525 State Fair Park Dr.

A nearby Lincoln Police officer responded, finding 37-year-old Steven Howard standing next to a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe. The officer says he watched as the vehicle erupted in flames, while Howard walked away.

Following a short chase, Howard was taken into custody and ultimately arrested for second-degree arson.
