Authorities are releasing new details about Lincoln’s latest homicide.

Lincoln Police said Tuesday an autopsy showed 31-year-old Michael Whitemagpie died of multiple gunshot wounds. Police could not exactly how many gunshot wounds he suffered.

Whitemagpie was found around 4:20 a.m. Saturday in an alley bordering N. 32nd, N 33rd, S St. and T St. Life-saving efforts by friends and emergency responders were unsuccessful and he died on the scene.

Police said Whitemagpie did not live in the area, and that he had traveled there with a male and female who were on the scene when he was shot. One of them called 911, police said.

Police said the shooting appears to be targeted and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Investigators continue to examine video and audio evidence obtained from the neighborhood, but are asking for the public’s help.
