LPD: Condition of male found hanging in basement remains unknown

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) –  UPDATE: According to Lincoln Police, the female is currently in stable condition, the male is alive but his condition remains unclear.

At this time, no charges have been filed and interviews are still being conducted.

The investigation remains open.


Officers found a 32-year-old female in a home near 30th and E street with multiple lacerations, they were then alerted of a man hanging from a rope in the basement.

According to Lincoln Police Department, police received a report that a female had been stabbed in a home around 7:00 p.m.

Officers heard the female inside the home screaming for help and proceeded to force entry into the residence.

In the basement, officers found the 37-year-old male hanging from a rope.

While waiting for Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews to arrive, officers performed life-saving measures.

Both people involved were transported to a local area hospital in critical condition.

Lincoln Police did not say who made the initial call to police.

The crime scene is still being processed for forensic evidence.
