Authorities arrested a woman who allegedly smashed into two mailboxes while driving a stolen SUV.

Lincoln police officers responded Saturday night to the area of NW 5th and W Joel on reports of a hit and run. When they arrived, they saw a 2009 black Chevy Tahoe that had significant damage.

The officers stopped the driver – identified by police as 28-year-old Anika Pfannestiel – and determined the SUV she was in had been reported stolen. The vehicle had been left unlocked with the key in the console,police said.

Estimated damage to the vehicle was $10,000. Police said two mailboxes had been hit prior to officers stopping Pfannestiel, and that witnesses identified her as the person responsible for hitting them.

Pfannenstiel was arrested for felony theft by unlawful taking, DUI, false information, and leaving the scene of accident.
