LPS implementing Excessive Heat Protocol during heat advisory

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln Public Schools (LPS) has announced a current excessive heat protocol.

The implementation started at 1:30 p.m. due to being in the Heat Red Zone.

All kids were kept inside after that time and school was dismissed as normal. High school athletics are being evaluated by NSAA protocols and guidelines.

LPS urges students to stay hydrated throughout the day and allotted time for students to fill water bottles before the commute home.
